Why there's no upload step

Discord displays server icons as a small circle around 48px in the sidebar, but the source you upload should be 512×512 so it stays sharp at every size Discord renders it at. Resizing and centering it yourself first — locally, without uploading it anywhere else — keeps you in control of the crop before it ever reaches Discord.

Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser — nothing touches a server before you upload it to Discord yourself.

Will my image look stretched?+

No — aspect ratio is preserved, so your image fits inside the 512×512 frame rather than being distorted.

What should I keep in the center?+

Discord server icons are cropped to a circle, so keep your logo or subject centered and away from the corners.

What about a server banner instead of an icon?+

Discord banners use a 1920×1080 frame — use the Resize Image tool with custom dimensions for that.
