Why there's no upload step
Redacting part of a photo usually means uploading it to a stranger's server first — a strange trade-off when the whole point is hiding sensitive information. This tool pixelates the selected area directly on your device using the Canvas API, so the original photo is never sent anywhere.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?+
No. Pixelation happens entirely in your browser.
Is pixelation reversible?+
The pixelation used here is heavy enough that the original detail can't be practically recovered — the same technique used for blurring faces/plates on TV.
Can I pixelate more than one area?+
Run the tool again on the downloaded result to pixelate an additional area.
