Remove Photo Metadata — why it works this way

Every photo from a phone or camera can carry EXIF metadata — including the exact GPS coordinates of where it was taken, the device model, and the date and time. This is invisible when you just look at the photo, but it travels with the file wherever you post it. This tool reads that data locally to show you what's hidden, then removes it by redrawing the image — a process that naturally discards all metadata — entirely in your browser.

Is my file uploaded? No. Everything happens locally in your browser using the Canvas/File APIs — your file is never sent anywhere.

FAQs

Is my photo uploaded anywhere to scan it?+
No. Both scanning and removal happen entirely in your browser.
Why does this matter?+
Photos posted online with GPS metadata intact can reveal your home address or exact location at the time — a real privacy risk most people don't realize exists.
Will this affect photo quality?+
No visible difference for typical photos — only the hidden metadata is removed, not the image itself.
Does this work on screenshots too?+
Yes, though screenshots usually carry little or no metadata to begin with.
