Why there's no upload step

Spotify playlist covers must be a 1:1 square, at least 300×300 but 640×640 is the recommended size for a sharp look across phones, desktop, and TV. Resizing it yourself first keeps the crop and framing under your control — and it never leaves your device.

Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser — nothing touches a server before you upload it to Spotify yourself.

Why 640×640 and not 300×300?+

300×300 is Spotify's minimum; 640×640 looks noticeably crisper on larger screens without making the file heavy.

Will my image look stretched?+

No — aspect ratio is preserved, so your image fits inside the square rather than being distorted.

Is this the same as an album cover?+

Album/podcast cover art is larger (3000×3000). Use the podcast-cover page or the custom Resize tool for that.
