Why there's no upload step

A 20KB limit is standard on Indian government exam registration portals, where even a few KB over the limit gets the file rejected. This tool searches JPEG quality levels locally in your browser until it finds the highest quality that still fits under 20KB, so you don't have to guess and re-upload repeatedly.

Questions
Is my photo or signature uploaded anywhere first?+

No — compression happens locally in your browser. Your ID photo or signature never touches a server before you submit it to the actual exam portal.

Will 20KB look too blurry for a signature?+

A signature is mostly flat white space with dark strokes, so it compresses very cleanly — 20KB is usually enough to stay sharp and legible.

What if it can't quite reach 20KB?+

The tool always returns the closest quality level at or under your target when that's achievable — it won't silently exceed 20KB.

Does this also resize to the exact cm/pixel dimensions my exam asks for?+

This page focuses on file size. If your form also specifies exact pixel dimensions, use the Resize Image tool first, then compress the result here.
